Daniel was born in Croydon Mayday Hospital on December 4th 2003 - eight weeks before his due date, and was transferred immediately to the Special Care Baby Unit (where he is pictured above, in his 'green house'). Our friend Gerry commented that he was 'mini perfect', but it soon became clear that things weren't right. After a few days he had such a dramatic weight loss that he was totally unrecognisable, and he started to go down hill rapidly despite attempts to feed him with various special milk formulas. When he was two weeks old he was blue-lighted to the intensive care unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital with suspected kidney failure.
